My first harvest of the season. Letting them dry and then infusing in olive oil and vodka.  This post is linked up to   Frugal Days, Sustainable Ways #83

DIY Astringent

How was your Sunday? Mine was very relaxing the first part of the day. Got up early and even made breakfast (which is very unusual). I tried really hard to get everything done on Saturday so that today was a lazy day. Everything was going good until I had a hankering for seeing the grand kids. Of course, the 5 year old just had to come to my house and then I just had to pick up the 4 year old at the other daughters house. We spent the afternoon at various playgrounds after the 5 year old helped me set up and pose for these pics. She even took the pics. Love them to pieces! Although, I am now exhausted.  This summer has wrecked havoc on my complexion. I have always had a problem with acne. Finally, in my 40s, my face calmed down with only occasional flair ups. Melaleuca has always helped. But this summer it's flaring up again. Ugh!! Earlier this month, I ran across this recipe from CampWander .   Instead of using it as a spray. I decided to make astringent pads. E...

MY EO LIfe

This is just a little glimpse of my essential oils and how I organize them. My oil collection keeps getting bigger and bigger and I am always reorganizing. I love my oils!  My droppers and glass roller bottles in the drawer. Also, a glimpse of my diffuser.  My EO and fractionated coconut oil concoctions. I have many roller bottle concoctions made up for my allergies, anxiety, headaches, and one for protecting me against germs. And this is not including all the cleaning products and skin care recipes I make. Plus, these oils can replace perfume. They smell great!! I can make up a custom made essential oil remedy for you also. If you are interested; just email me at icymae@gmail.com, and I'll let you know the details.

My Soap, Now on Etsy!

I just listed my soap on Etsy! More products will be coming shortly.

Handmade Soap

I've been busy making soap! It seems all I can think about it soap, gathering ingredients, and finding time. My son says I'm obsessed. I guess so; since I just made my fourth batch. I have been wanting to make soap for years but I was too afraid of the lye. Also, the cost of everything and finding everything was overwhelming. So, I'm at that point in my life where I've decided to just do what I want and I'll deal with the consequences (the consequences are all financial on my part). I choose to make Hot Processed Soap because I want it NOW. Not a month or two from now. I can't remember when I started and figured I better start blogging about it before I forget what I have done and which recipe I used. As it is, I'm digging into the recesses of my mind (what there is of it). My first batch of soap, I used this recipe from the blog One Good Thing From Jillee .  I had my youngest son help me and had him mix the lye up; so if anything happened it would h...

Face Wash

Why have I not ever heard of this before? I have acne prone skin. Had it every since I was 9. I've tried every freaking acne face wash there is and nothing has ever worked. So, here I am in my 40s and finally my skin looks good. For three weeks now. I love it! No acne. No dryness. Smooth and healthy complexion. I really do look younger. So what is this? I don't know if I dare say. I mean why would I want others to look good too. lol. Oh, well....here it is: castor oil and olive oil What!! Why would you put more oil on your face to help with oily skin, you say. I thought it was gross too. But since I have tried everything anyway, I gave it a shot. And I was sold on the first "washing". I found this on a blog that I follow: Simple Organized Living . I think I found the blog on Pinterest.  You find so many neat things on that site that you might otherwise never have found. On Simple Organized Living, the oil cleansing method  was linked and referenced too. G...
